Mount Pleasant Touring Park
We found our two nights at Mount Pleasant to be everything and more than we expected. Our pitch was spacious and clean and we found the site to be very friendly indeed. We were located close to the washing amenities and the drinking water tap. The site shop came in handy for essential purchases and the shower facilities were clean and fragrant. This site is also the closest to Bournemouth town centre.
It should be noted that this site is located under the incoming flight path to Hurn Airport. Therefore approximately every 30-60 minutes an aircraft does come into land. Most of the aircraft however are small and actually rather quiet considering. We actually enjoyed watching them from outside the tent. This factor was not seen as negative, indeed by us or those that leave their caravans on the site all year round.
One previous reviewer mentions noise from the A338. We did not hear this at all during our weekend. Everyone is entitled to their opinion however I would suggest that the rant on this site is not an accurate portrayal of Mount Pleasant and in parts utterly untrue.
I would certainly recommend this place to all.

Mount Pleasant Touring Park
This site is by no means a pleasant experience if a restful break is required. We arrived on-speck on a very busy weekend, and were very pleased to have been told there was a pitch available for our small tent. We had actually been allocated a pitch from a caravan that had left the site, and this pitch had been let to two tents to make some last minute money for the night. The pitch was soaking wet from its occupation by a caravan, but things were about to get worse!
The noise of the A338 was very prominent, and didn't let up throughout the night. The approaching and departing planes roared as they flew directly over the site, and were at such a volume as to prevent hearing each other while lying side by side in the tent.
Our tent was towards the back of the site, next to the children's playground, which I thought would be an acceptable source of noise until about 10pm when the children went to bed... the fact was that with the noise of the road, the playground noise couldn't be heard at all.
The tyre and engine noise really didn't ease throughout the night, and we didn't sleep a wink. From early morning the planes started again, roaring their way towards somewhere much quieter, I'm sure.
We identified many pitches that were a little quieter, and having already paid for the two nights, a quieter pitch away from the road noise would have at least given us some sleep between the last flight at night (10ish) and the first one the following morning (6ish). We were given very little explanation as to why none of the quieter areas were available, and told that they were fully booked. We were told that we could move our tent about 20 yards away from the road into a caravan's car parking space, as they were away for the weekend. We had no choice but to accept this, as after a night of no sleep, and waking only to look through blurry eyes at a 2" bolt through my tyre (probably from the caravan that had been there before), we had little energy or inclination to argue.
The road noise was ever present, but we did manage a little sleep until the morning song of the Boeing!
Other than the noise, the toilets were smelly to the point of discomfort, and the showers were dirty. We paid £12 per night at this campsite, for service and comfort that I would not have paid £1 for. I don't understand what the rating for campsites means, but if this is a 5 star site, I hate to imagine what anything less would be like.
Staff/management were far from enthusiastic or even remotely interested in dealing with our complaint, and offered very little sympathy regarding the problems caused by the noise. This must be a frequent complaint, and no longer interests the staff... after all, we had already paid up front, so if we were to leave, they would make double for that pitch, so what are they losing!
I would not recommend this site for anybody who wants to get away from the noise of the city and relax. Bournemouth International Airport is getting busier and busier, with new routes being frequently announced. My suggestion is to look elsewhere for campsites, and book early to ensure you get your first choice.

Mount Pleasant Touring Park
very friendly site, clean, with shop and two toilet blocks and childrens play area, ( no pub for you drinkers ). campsite very close to hurn forest and only five miles from Bournmouth. With a little cabin for hot meals if you dont want to cook one evening or early breakfast. for those of you that like watching airplane's you will be in your elimate, as the flight path runs right over the campsite, early flight takes off at 6.00 first flight to Jersey and end at 10.30. i must have like it though we stayed for two weeks. very close to Christchurch which is a wonderful place to visit. Site is very nice and secure with a automatice barrier. for anyone that has a trailer tent or caravan. make sure you get out of the car to open the barrier and do not get to close, we watched someone arrive with there new trailer tent that did not get out of the car and the trailer tent ended up damaged.
try the site its great.
