Hendra Holiday Park Reviews

Hendra Holiday Park

I stayed at Hendra 3 weekends ago (26th August, 4 plus one tent). We had a long drive from Sussex and pleased to arrive at 11.30pm to find that they had opened up the field next to the campsite for late arrivals. The guy who booked us in was very friendly and helpful but unfortunately we were placed 2 metres from the road with only a wall and bush to divide us - hence a very noisy night (and not much sleep). We felt we could have been placed on the other side of the field as it was quieter. The facilities were good, but both mornings we had a cold shower, although arriving no later than 9.30am to the wash room the floors were also extremely slippery and wet. We also had to pay £25 rate for another night by the main road - we could not move the tent in the morning as it was pouring with rain, we felt they could have knocked a few quid off the price as the park was virtually full and they would have had another visitor use the site we were going to(the wash room was also a good 2 fields away). We found the staff in the swimming pool reception unfriendly and unhelpful, however much we smiled and tried to be nice. My partner damaged his elbow badly on the red tube slide which has a dangerous landing (we kept to the rules of hands behind the head and feet crossed but both of us still hurt ourselves). We feel this slide should have a landing which isn't so dangerous or should be taken out (explains why nobody, not even the adults were going on it). We finally got a hot shower in the swimming pool changing room, but did not wish to pay £2 everytime we wanted a shower!

It is a lovely big campsite, but the facilties needed to be improved (health and safety wise) - and the need to have more hot water!. We won't be going back, but would be a good place for a family who want the kids entertained (but they may have to stay dirty!).

Hendra Holiday Park 5/5 5 stars

Our first time camping last year spent at Hendra Campsite just on the outskirts of Newquay. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble for them and they hold an excellent knowledge of the area and things to do. There is fantastic entertainment laid on, good shop on site and excellent showering facilities- there's never a dull moment with all the activities laid on for the kids, including the early morning train taking them round the whole came site to yell 'wake up' at all holiday makers!!!! The site is within walking distance of Newquay with a Safeways only a couple of minutes walk away.
I can safely say, it was the most enjoyable holiday I have been on. I would definitely reccomend Hendra as an excellent campsite for all!!
