Old Head Forest Caravan and Camping Park
Stayed here in June 2005 for several nights - Booked in at cafe with no problem and found the girls there helpful and they supplied us with a key for the toilets etc which were clean - quiet hotel with bar available next to site - fabulous beach area 2 minutes walk away which was quiet in june but may be busier in august holidays - camped with 2 man tent which meant we were able to select reasonable site as a little open - tennis court availble although it looked a little tired - enjoyed our stay and remained beyond our original 1 night and would return - ideal as a stopover camp if you are travelling in this area

Old Head Forest Caravan and Camping Park
Hmm! We arrived with high hopes for this place, due to it's location, but we ended up so disappointed that we couldn't stay. It was pathetic.
The guy who runs it has no office (there's a cafe at the gate which is a separate enterprise, and he uses a table in there), and we were told he's only around for about an hour each morning. The women in the cafe sclearly expressed how fed up they were with people enquiring about the campsite, although they were very helpful and gave us his phone number. After looking around the campsite, we decided not to waste the money of a phone call.
The showers were locked and only one toilet was open, which was very dirty. Given that the owner wasn't going to be around for the rest of the day, this was completely unacceptable. We only found one couple camping in a tent. Everyone else was in mobile homes. The tent couple were camped in a muddy patch that they said was the driest spot they could find. they seemed resigned to the fact that this was the only campsite in the area, and so had to take it like it was.
We decided to head up north to the excellent campsite in Keel, Achill. I'd advise anyone else to do the same.
