Ballyloughane Caravan and camping Park
My girlfriend and I visited many campsites during our tour of the south west coast and we found the standards high and hospitality excellent. That was until our final night which was spent at the Ballyloughane camp - Galway. At 17 euro a night (not including 1 euro shower tokens) this was the most expensive site we visited. Reception was a disheartening experience - we were greeted by a bitter old lady with an air of thinly veiled contempt, camp-site rules were barked at us prison warder style - she snatched payment from my hands, - no please - no thank you, and grimly directed us to our sloping, exposed pitch. I hoped a shower would help lift my spirits, but no, the small shower block was filthy and the stench of urine overpowering - a swarm of flies danced over a debris of toilet paper and discarded safety razors. Two male shower units service the entire camp making for an extremely unpleasant queuing experience - one euro provides less then 5 minutes of hot water and incredibly the coin slots for the shower timers are located outside the shower - leaving you with an obvious unpleasant dilemma. If I sound bitter it's because I am, this campsite formed a dark cloud over the last day of our holiday. No one should be exposed to such shameful treatment and scandalous sub-standard facilities.
