Perissa, Santorini

Arriving as a pedestrian on the ferry from Paros, it was easy to choose the campsite tout. The one with 'I (heart) Perissa Camping' on the minibus. A minibus is vital, especially from the port, which is situated at the base of a huge cliff! It was about a 20 minute drive to the campsite in the minibus. On arrival, the small town was lively and the beach was of rich dark volcanic sand stretching for miles. The campsite was on the beach with a fairly small, at a guess, 100 pitches, and intimate atmosphere set amongst lots of trees. There was immediate access to a 3 bars and restaurant on the beach and lots of little supermarket and boutique shops in the town only a 2 minute walk away. The facilites were excellent, modern and clean. A day trip to the volcanic island just off santorini is a must. In a word, friendly.
