Camp Municipal De La Fontaine 5/5
Excellent campsite, situated on the edge of town, right next to the Public Gardens and below the ruins of 5 ancient chateaux which are perched on a rocky outcrop! Some shady pitches. Well sign-posted from the roundabout at the entrance to the town on the D749/N151.
Sanitary blocks are kept scrupulously clean; there is ample hot/cold water for showers/laundry/dishes. Self-catering bungalows are also available to rent.
The manageress was friendly and even had bottles of frozen water for sale in the July/August heat!
Chauvigny has a selection of eating places to suit most budgets, along with several supermarkets and bakeries within walking distance. There is a small traditional market held 3 times a week (Tues, Thurs & Sat mornings) and a small, comfortable cinema, which shows English films occasionally.
