La Carabasse
Just spent 10 days at La Carabasse at Vias Plage (early July). Very large, very popular campsite - full even this "early" in the season. Great for the kids - not only does the pool have a couple of good slides but great kids clubs (1-16 yrs). Very very clean everywhere; excellent evening entertainment by Haven animators and visting bands; great pool with several and very good lifeguards; obvious but unobtrusive security all day but particularly around the site at night. Downside? Bar near pool rip off, changing money at Reception even bigger rip off and a lot of noise can be heard at night. Campsite noise stops around midnight but noisy outside park (Europark; campsite opposite; occasional bands (inc. heavy metal!) at one of the beach bars). Village itself great - lots of shops and restaurants, but no ATM (nearest Vias); nearest TC change Agde. Aqualand worth a visit (approx £60 family of 4), as are many local towns and villages and nearby beautiful Canal du Midi. If you don't mind an hour or so in the car go to Carcassonne too if you can

La Carabasse
We were sorely dissapointed with this camp site. It is now owned by a British comany and operated as a Haven site. We found it to be dirty, in need of repair with facilities limited to high season. We had dirty, smelly accomodation which was not properly serviced. We did make the most of our time there however by spending most of it away from the site. The resort of Vias itself is excellent with numerous shops, bars and cafes all within walking distance (a refreshing change on a French camping holiday). I would reccommend a visit to Aqualand (10 min drive at cap d'agde) and to explore the beautiful surrounding area.
