Based on the ever favourite JJ, this ARV 116 JJ UL version benefits from work in Armada Zero lab to shave weight and make it a serious player in the BC category if you want to tour to reach the goods. The Caruba core creates a lower swing weight yet retains the smooth, surfy feel that the JJ known. The width, shape that creates the long nose and tail, and the use of the Smear Tech ensure maximum float and the smoothest turns in soft snow. All done with a unique freestyle feel that other wide skis often miss. Super limited availability and we've only managed to get hold of a few, so don't hang around.Terrain Type & Ability LevelTerrain Type You can take it anywhere but it's natural environment is powder. It'll run some laps in the park and the shape/flex/rocker lends itself to presses and butters, it'll even crank out some GS turns on the piste, but the flex is geared for fresh snow. Being so light it is a realistic option for some more serious BC action and longer tours.Skier TypeIt's one for skiers looking for a freestyle feel, but with the width for powder days. The UL construction of the Zero project means it's ideal to mount up with a Shift or similar and take it for some tours to hunt the best stashes. In this guise, it pretty much has its own place in the market.OverviewShapeBased on the original and much-loved JJ shape. The monster 116mm waist has a surprisingly short radius at 18m in a 185cm. This is achieved by having super-long noses and tails, with the widest points set well back from the tips and tails, giving the ski the smoothest turns in soft snow.RockerAR Freestyle Rocker. Rockered tips and tails are combined with positive camber under foot to allow the ski to charge with ease through unpredictable snow and maintain a solid carve when asked to do so. Turn the whole mountain into your playground.CoreCaruba core. Armada's lightest wood core material creates the best uphill feel while retaining the power and damping characteristics required for descending the gnarliest terrain. This core makes no performance concessions in its quest to be ultra-light.ConstructionAR75 Sidewall. Sidewall on 75% of the ski to allow for weight savings on tip and tail while maintaining rigidity and drive in the prime zone. Laminate Matrix is a directional layering of fiberglass that dictates the flex pattern and torsional rigidity of the ski, creating a lively and forgiving feel with quick response.Key FeaturesSmear TechA 3D beveled base in the tip and tail creates a unique feel in all snow conditions. Less likely to catch in crud, self-centering in deep snow and in-catchable on take-offs, Smear Tech lets you float effortlessly whether sliding forwards, backwards, left or right.1.7 Lightweight edgeLight and strong, this heat-treated edge minimally affects the feel of the ski to ensure a snappy, lightweight feel.S7 BaseA sintered base optimized for speed, durability and wax retention.eB tester’s comments: Luke (Buyer) Hard to believe how useable they are at 116 under foot. I thought they'd be sluggish and tiring, yet they're easy to pivot and turn plus light and playful under foot. I'm not suggesting theyâ're a one quiver ski, but if you want a powder ski that is fun going from a to b too, this is the one.Size (cm)Tip Width (mm)Waist Width (mm)Tail Width (mm)Radius (m)Weight (g)175139116135171600185139116135181700192139116135191800General InformationSkier Ability: Advanced|expertRocker: Tip/Tail RockerRadius: MediumBase: SinteredBindings: Ski sold flatDIN: n/aConstruction: Semi SidewallCore: WoodDemo: NoSizing Description: Forehead to over head height.
