Hollins Farm Reviews

Hollins Farm

We have just experince a terrible family break at this campsite. We were told to pitch anywhere in the 3 fields (very small areas no flat ground available) because Mrs Mortimer would not be their. We pitch up our two large family tents on the only flat area available. For no reason what so ever Mrs Mortimer was very rude she shouted at us asking why we had pitched in this field as she walked away she said oh well you are going to get flooded out when the rain comes tomorrow. The toilets playroom (pre 60's) showers (wooden shack) was terrible. The play area was a rusty old slide and swing. We were told to keep very quiet on an evening or she would ask us to leave. As we were on holiday we thought we were suppose to enjoy ourselves, but we felt like prisoners we were glad to leave after 2 nights.

Hollins Farm 5/5 5 stars

Quaint and homely. Clean and tidy. The children were allowed to help with collecting the eggs, (they were given one each). The local publican provided a free taxi ride so we could eat our evening meal in his pub. Nothing too much trouble for the owners, they even dried our clothes for us following a soaking.
Lots of hot water for a shower of unlimited duration for 20p! Highly recommended.

Hollins Farm

The site was aprox 2miles from Glaisdale station, and not an easy walk. It was up nemeurous steap inclines and there were signed directions. The nearest pub or shot was about one and a half miles away and generally the locals were unfriendly and ignored any attempt to make conversation.
The campsite was quite and basic. We weremade to pitch our tent on a hill despite the fact there was flat ground avalible.
The showers cost 20p and were tatty and dirty. There were two toilets. One of which was dirty, old and small. Also the hot water did not work in this toilet.
The only drinking water tap was outside and was like a normal garden tap and very unhygenic.
The tv and games room was very scruffy with holes in the walls which you could see the boiler through. The games room did not have many games in it and there were many do not do signs on the wall.
There was an extermly small play ground consisting of a rusty old swing and slide.
The couple who owned the farm were friendly and kind.
