Rivendale
The main site is awful. It is very sterile and not the sort of place that children would be running free in. The view is of a quary and very grim.
I stayed in the overspill area instead. This was much better for children and the view is much better. However, there is a catch. When we arrived, we were told to sign a form - which we did. They then said "Thats to say that you were told that you cannot use any of the facilities". I responded "But actually I was not told !". I was not able to get a refund and had to stay for 2 weeks with 3 children (one of them a 4 month old baby) with no laundrette or other facilities. It was not so much the rules that bothered me, rather it was there attitude. They would not lift a finger to help us and seemed to gloat over the fact that there was nothing we could do about it. I spoke to others on the site about this and received similar reports, also the comment "I'm never comming here again" was phrased more than once. The neigbouring campsites offered to do our laundry for us, because they were kind.
I told them that I will write a review and they told me not to forget to mention that I was in the overspill area. Next time I will go somewhere less legalistic and more friendly.

Rivendale
This is a well run site with excellent facilities within yards of the Tissington Trail. Open all year round, has excellent bar with real ale plus welll heated shower block.

Rivendale
I went a year or so ago when the site was being developed from a former quarry. Handy for the Trails and well laid out. Bar above the reception area is away from the tents. We had a great time there.
