Camp Municipal Du Velodrome, Albert

A small well run and friendly campsite situated right on the banks of the River Ancre and close to a water park. Site consists of a number of pitches with water and mains electricity supplies, well suited for caravans and larger tents, although they did cater for my single person dome. Toilets and wash facilites are unisex, but obviously seperate individual enclosure for each person. Handy for the Somme battlefields being only a couple of miles from such sites as Mamatz, Pozieres, Theipval etc. There is a maxicoop supermarket five minutes walk away on the Bapaume Road which is well stocked and cheap and a MacDonalds drive thru further on still. Albert town centre and the Basilica is only 5 minutes walk away as well plenty of bars and restaurants. The only thing to let the site down was the noise from a nearby bar which caused a bit of a disturbance one morning, but this may have been an isolated incident.
