La Chenaie
My family and I stayed in different campsites in France every year since I was 3, but once we stayed here for the first time, we spent the next 6 visits to France in Les Charmettes!! It has so much onsite that if you want to stay somewhere and relax, this is the place. However if you like sightseeing it is also topclass. When we stayed there, I was 12-18 and every year was better than the last. There are numerous playgrounds for kids, as well as 3 big swimming pools with quality slides and extensive bathing areas, both around the pools and further away for some peace and quiet. Other leisure activities included, 10 tennis courts, 4 of which are full-size. A large football pitch, bowling area, badminton and a fenced basketball court. If you get bored of playing in small groups and want to get a bit more competitive, then there are clubs you can join for free. One called 'Tiger club' for young kids, in which they can make friends and take part in various activities, and a club which consisted of people from 16-30 which was excellent for all round social stuff. There is an onsite supermarket, chippy, pizzeria, crepe parlour, ice-cream parlour, restaraunt and a bar/nightclub with good shows on every night, and an adjacent games room. There is a lane leading into the campsite with a Quad racing complex on one side and a kart-racing complex on the other. about a 5 minute walk from campsite in either direction are 2 small towns with a lot of stuff to see. About a 10 minute drive is a famous wine-tasting place for the folks, but I can't tell you much about the sight-seeing, as I spent most of my time having fun in the campsite itself. There are people from all countries there, so you will always meet some nice people.
Overall I would like to express my dissapointment at growing old and not being able to go back there with my family again. Although most of people my age go to places like Ibiza etc these days, I would be extremely happy to head to Les Charmettes with a few friends some summer. PS. I have probably left out loads, but its been a while since i was there.
