Camping Tahiti
Finale Ligure is a lovely part of Italy and we have just come back from our second visit.
Camping Tahiti is a nice site about 5 minute walk from the beach and the town centre. The train station is only 10 to 15 minutes walk and is served from Genova, Milano, etc.
The site is on quite a slope, so on a hot day its hard work carrying your luggage to the top. Once you've pitched your tent, caravan or motorhome, you can relax in the shade of the trees and enjoys the views of the hills. If you have a small tent, I recommend walking up the hill to the top of the site, where there are little secluded pitches in the shade.
The facities are quite basic. There is a choice of toilet type (sit or squat!), but no toilet paper; the sinks are outside with only cold water; The showers are free for cold or token fed for hot. There are a number of items around for the use of campers, like tables, chairs, hammocks and bar-b-que. There is a bar and a small shop, though we didn't make use of them, as the site is so close to the town.
Security seems very good, with reseption staffed whenever I was awake. The staff speak good English as well as German (and obviously Italian).
The sire is resonably priced (7 Euros per person, 5.50 for a small tent as at August 03, high season). They don't take bookings, but I was assured that there is usually room for one more!
Whatch out for the ants, and don't forget the loo roll!
Camping Tahiti has been given 2 stars by the tourist council.
